India will play an international friendly against China in the scheduled FIFA October 2018 window. The match, the first for India on Chinese soil, will be played in Beijing. India is ranked 97 against China (75).
India will travel to Beijing from October 8 to16.
“Though the date for the Friendly will be decided in the coming days, AIFF has proposed October 13 as the match day,” the All India Football Federation said in a statement.
According to AIFF, India has hosted China 17 times and their last contest was during the Nehru Cup in Kochi in 1997.
India has never won
India has never won a match between the two, having lost 12 and drawn the rest.
“With an eye on the preparation for the Asian Cup, I couldn’t have asked for anything better than an opponent like China.
“I am sure the boys will make the best of the opportunity presented to us and look forward to test ourselves ahead of the AFC competition,” said national coach Stephen Constantine
The India under-16 national team had recently travelled to China for an invitational four-nation tournament.
“China and India are seen as the two fastest emerging football markets, globally.
“We are happy to have come to the conclusion of our month-long discussion with the Chinese FA,” AIFF general-secretary Kushal Das said.
